Formed in Northern California in 2008, Compassionate Living is a 501c3 non-profit organization working for a world where no animal has to suffer at human hands. Through outreach campaigns, educational initiatives and community building activities, Compassionate Living works not only to relieve the suffering of farmed animals, but to show how we can build a more sustainable, just and non-violent world, one where we can all prosper in peace and vibrant health.

Compassionate Living hosts monthly vegan potlucks in various cities in Sonoma County and also hosts knowledgeable speakers and film showings throughout the year. Our Outreach Team is energizing the county with educational leafletings and tabling informing our community about the suffering of farmed animals and the benefits of a plant-based diet. We are the main sponsor and organizer of the Sonoma County VegFest, a celebration of compassionate eating, held in Santa Rosa every summer.

Duo Duo Project promises to end the eating of dogs and cats as a delicacy food in rural areas of China. Knowing that stolen pets are the major source of supply is heartbreaking to us. Our projects change the hearts and minds of those who eat dog and cat as well as those who work within the trade's supply chain. Since 2014, our awareness campaigns led a movement of over 2.7 million people collectively calling for the end to the infamous Yulin dog meat festival and the trade itself. Our team chooses hope not hate to make our promise a reality.

Factory Farming Awareness Coalition (FFAC) is an educational non-profit that empowers people to save animals, the environment, and our own health through our daily food choices.

FFAC gives presentations to schools, community groups, businesses, and faith communities, and offers different versions tailored towards different classes and interest groups. Some versions include public health, social justice, sustainability, wildlife/ecosystems, gender studies, and political science.

FFAC provides trainings and makes our materials available to anyone, anywhere who wants to use them.

Goatlandia is an animal sanctuary that rescues farm animals and educates the public about the choice for a compassionate lifestyle. In addition to providing a safe and loving forever home to our own feathered and furry family, we also place our rescued animal friends into other loving homes through our adoption program. We do all kind of events both here at the sanctuary and out in the community.

We try to be as eco-minded as possible: we gather and reuse rain water and grey water, generate solar power, compost our own scraps for use in the garden, grow some treats for our family, and try to help encourage others to do the same.

Goatlandia is a place for people to experience compassion, have fun and do cool things together. Find out more about what we do.

Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions saves the lives of domestic (unreleasable) birds that are otherwise killed by helping San Francisco Bay Area shelters and finders. We provide guidance, referrals, education, long-term foster care, avian vet treatment and adoption services. Domestic pigeons and doves are unfortunately bred, used and lost by people for meat, sport and hobbies and we help care for the found and injured survivors, placing them with loving, non-breeding, non-exploitive adopters. Pigeons and doves make amazing pets either indoors with the family or outside in predator and rodent-proof avairies with other birds. Palomacy is a volunteer-powered, donation-supported project of Community Initiatives. Thanks to the support of our volunteers, we have saved the lives of more than 800 birds since we began in 2007 and helped countless others. Palomacy is pigeon diplomacy!
